Web Hunt: Using Technology

Using your favorite search engine, access the Internet to find at least two (2) sites that offer tips on using computers and the Internet. Use any of the following keywords, or come up with some of your own: "computers," "computer applications," "word processing," "Internet," "World Wide Web," "how to access the Internet and WWW," "Connect to the Net," "Internet Service Providers (ISPs)," "using computers."

Be ready to share this written review with your class.

Web Hunt: How to Use Directories and Search Engines

Go to your favorite search engine and find the "help" link. Click on it and search for three (3) tips that can help make your Internet research more efficient and effective. For example, what is an abstract and how would you use it? What is an index, and when would you use it? When would you use a directory versus a search engine? What are "keywords" and how do you choose them? How can you narrow your options if your first search generates too many? How do you use "more like this" or "narrow your search" links?
