Child Development: Stepping Stones is a fully integrated instructional system that embraces academic theory, scientific discoveries, and practical applications. The course presents developmental processes in three distinct categories or domains—biosocial, cognitive, and psychosocial. The summary and special topic lessons provide an in-depth look at the “whole child” and consider various factors affecting the developing child. The integrated components of this learning system were instructionally designed to reach students with various learning styles.
Each video lesson is a complete lesson and incorporates original videography of biological processes, as well as historical and contemporary research. The lessons provide students with a chance to observe children and hear from many leading child development experts and medical professionals. Stories of challenge, relationships, investigation, hope, and inspiration are told using original footage of real-life case studies, which provide students with insights into key concepts and principles of child development.
